Sunlarium - the best 4-season sunroom on the market.

In October 2005, Murphy's Window and Sunroom introduced the revolutionary Murphy and Murphy Sunlarium, a cross between a glass solarium and a traditional patio room. In designing the Sunlarium, James Murphy Sr. envisioned the stylish look of a glass solarium with the energy efficiency and warranty peace of mind of a traditional patio room.

After meeting with prospective clients and conducting customer surveys, the Murphy's always heard the same suggestion. "Why doesn't the industry offer a patio room that doesn't look like a trailer slapped on the back of a house?!" The biggest objection to the patio enclosure was that it did not blend in with the home. So the Murphy's went straight to the drawing board and thus was born the Sunlarium. What makes the Sunlarium so special??

The first major breakthrough with the Sunlarium was to offer the homeowner any window design on the market. Every competing sunroom strictly incorporates sliding windows into their room. This can be a major drawback for a few reasons. The first is most people don't like sliding windows because they are notorious for air leakage. Second, most homes are designed and built with casement or double hung windows throughout. Why should the sunroom have a different style window? Plain and simple, it shouldn't. With the Sunlarium, Murphy's offers any window style you desire. Our signature styling is picture windows on the front wall of the sunroom so it has the look of a glass solarium. And the sidewalls tend to feature double hung windows, European in-line sliders, and/ or sliding patio doors, or casement windows.

The second major feature of the Sunlarium is the option of a brick kneewall or glass "kick panel" with operable windows. One of the biggest turnoffs of a new sunroom is the exterior aluminum skin bottom or "kick panel." Plain and simple, it looks ugly and detracts from the look of the room. If the homeowner opts for a glass kneewall, the Sunlarium offers awning style windows that crank upwards to vent. Not only do they have a stylish look, but if it is raining, the awnings can still be opened for a fresh breeze or ventilation..

And the brick kneewall is absolutely a gorgeous option. What better way to add a sunroom that with a brick that would match your home brick. Now, the room looks like a classy addition , not an ugly trailer that is slapped on the back of the home!

Most of our competitors simply offer Low Energy Glass and argon gas for their windows. Not the Sunlarium!. The Murphy's partnered with the Shuco Corporation, the world's largest window and glass manufacturer in the world.. Shuco's state of the art glass system includes Mercedes Benz auto glazing between the window panes to eliminate the conduction of heat and cold. They also offer triple pane insulated glass rather than dual, and fill each of their window units with krypton gas. All Schuco windows feature steel reinforced frames for added support and a lifetime transferable window warranty.
